We are looking for an Application Development Manager to support one of our valued clients on various application initiatives.
What You’ll Do
* Provide technical leadership on application development and maintenance activities seeking to pursue evolving industry practice
* Define and drive the strategic direction of the organisation's application stack, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
* Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and reliable application solutions and integrations that meet business requirements and adhere to SDLC standards.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs, gather and document technical requirements, and priorities, and translate them into solutions.
* Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to inform decisions and drive innovation within the organisation.
* Together with vendors, develop and maintain standards, principles, guidelines, and best practices for application development and integration.
* Maintain and enhance current DevOps practice with agile development and low- and no-code platforms
* Collaborate with other IT teams to implement new application systems
* Ensure application security best practices and compliance with regulatory requirements
* Maintain comprehensive documentation for all delivered solutions
* Mentor and coach IT teams on architectural concepts, design principles, and best practices, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Know
* Comprehensive understanding of software development principles and best practices.
* Experience with microservices architecture and API management
* Proficiency in application design and development technologies, frameworks, and platforms.
* In-depth knowledge of enterprise application integration (EAI) and service-oriented architecture (SOA) principles and practices.
* Familiarity with cloud computing architectures, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).
* Understanding of security principles and best practices in application design.
* Knowledge of software development methodologies, such as Agile, Scrum, and DevOps – including CI/CD pipelines
* Familiarity with emerging technologies and industry trends in application development and architecture.
* Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements relevant to application development and architecture
What Experience You'll Bring:
* 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on application architecture and design.
* Experience leading the design and development of complex enterprise applications and systems.
* Hands-on experience with a variety of programming languages, frameworks, and technologies relevant to application development (e.g., Java, .NET, Python, Node.js, React).
* Experience designing and implementing scalable, secure, and reliable application solutions in on-premises and cloud environments.
* Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors to deliver successful architectural solutions.
* Experience mentoring and coaching team members on architectural concepts, design principles, and best practices.
* Experience managing technical debt and driving modernisation initiatives
You'll be expected to be available to work in a hybrid capacity and be available to work 3 days per week from their South Eastern Suburb office.
