Overview
GP – Metabolic Medicine / Weight Management (1 Day per Week). Esus Centre is Australia's first integrated day hospital for eating disorders and associated complex metabolic and mental health conditions. Our multidisciplinary team works within a value-based healthcare model, embedding outcome measurement, integrated care, and evidence-based treatment across all programs.
We are launching EmpowerED, a metabolic health clinic supporting patients prescribed GLP-1 and other weight-loss medications, delivered through a world-leading integrated care model inspired by leading international metabolic clinics.
Patients receive coordinated care including medical management, dietetic support, resistance training, metabolic monitoring and behavioural coaching, delivered by a closely integrated multidisciplinary team. We are seeking a GP with an interest in metabolic health, obesity medicine, and/or preventative medicine to join the clinic.
The Role
This role involves providing medical oversight for patients undergoing medically indicated weight loss using GLP-1 and related medications within a structured multidisciplinary program. You will work alongside dietitians, psychologists, exercise specialists, and metabolic health clinicians within a highly collaborative environment.
This is a one-day-per-week contractor role, ideal for a GP seeking to expand their practice in metabolic medicine and innovative models of chronic disease management.
Key Responsibilities
* Assessment and medical management of patients prescribed GLP-1 and other anti-obesity medications
* Monitoring of metabolic health and medication safety
* Collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes
* Participation in an outcomes-focused model of care, including structured monitoring of body composition and metabolic markers
* Contributing to a patient-centred, integrated model of care
About You
We are looking for a GP who:
* Holds current AHPRA registration as a General Practitioner
* Has an interest in metabolic health, obesity medicine, preventative health, or lifestyle medicine
* Enjoys working in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment
* Is interested in innovative models of care that prioritise long-term outcomes
* Experience in weight management, diabetes, eating disorders, or metabolic health is desirable but not essential
