Responsibilities
1. Operate as an effective team member and deliver quality and timely services to various stakeholders incorporating a wide range of administrative and support functions.
2. Manage and administer young people\'s property, earnings and phone system in line with departmental processes. Manage and maintain accurate banking records and cash management processes.
3. Coordinate the sorting and distribution of mail and packages, including daily delivery and pickup by Australia Post.
4. Be responsible for onboarding, offboarding and system access of YJ staff and contractors.
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (Youth Justice) is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system in Victoria focussing on prevention, diversion, and early intervention as the most effective and fiscally responsible ways of reducing youth crime. Youth justice custodial centres accommodate young people aged 12-18 years who have been remanded or sentenced by the Criminal Division of the Children\'s Court, and some 18-21 year olds sentenced by Adult Courts to a youth justice custodial centre.
Youth Justice Custodial Services aim to engage young people in change by addressing their offending behaviour and equipping them with the skills required for positive community participation, within a safe and secure environment.
The opportunity
5. Ongoing, full-time position based at the Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct but working flexibly across other Youth Justice Custodial Precincts (Parkville & Cherry Creek), where needed to respond to operational requirements.
6. VPS3 role : $79,122 - $96,073 per year plus super.
7. Manage and administer young people\'s property, earnings, and phone system in line with departmental processes.
8. Manage and maintain accurate banking records and cash management.
9. Be responsible for onboarding, offboarding and system access of YJ staff and contractors.
10. Coordinate the sorting and distribution of mail and packages, including daily deliver and pickup by Australia Post.
11. Organise and deliver services at Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct to meet agreed corporate or program objectives, service delivery standards and timelines, specified budgetary outcomes, stakeholder expectations and young people\'s needs.
12. Assist with other administrative processes including accounts payable, financial information, records management, fleet management, asset management, and departmental correspondence and briefings.
Qualifications
13. Demonstrated experience in effectively applying theory, knowledge, and experience in Office Administration, cash management, accounts payable and or financial management is desirable.
14. Knowledge of Victorian governmental operating practices, processes and information systems would be advantageous.
15. A current driver\'s licence is required due to the need to work across different locations.
A current employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) card is required and will need to be provided prior to commencement of employment by the applicant. Currency will need to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
