Geo Civil Laboratories Pty Ltd t/as Geo Civil Laboratories is undertaking targeted recruitment of suitably qualified, Full-Time Laboratory Manager to be a part of their established workforce in Gooburrum, QLD, 4670. With over 20 years of industry experience, the company is a trusted provider of construction materials testing services, specialising in concrete, soils, aggregates, and quarry materials for civil construction projects of all sizes.

These are permanent, Full-Time positions remunerated within the range of AUD 100K to 110K per annum plus superannuation, benchmarked against market salary rates and commensurate with the technical skill, experience, and accountability required for the position.
Scope of the role:
* Oversee and coordinate all laboratory and field testing activities across concrete, soils, aggregates and quarry materials to ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards and client specifications.
* Plan, resource and prioritise daily workloads to meet client requirements, project timelines and turnaround benchmarks.
* Implement, maintain and continuously improve the laboratory Quality Management System, including adherence to the Quality Manual, policies, procedures and NATA requirements.
* Review and verify calculations, worksheets, test data and reports to ensure accuracy, completeness and regulatory compliance prior to release.
* Identify non-conforming work, initiate corrective actions via internal and external audits and maintain appropriate records with implementation of workforce planning and training driving system enhancements for continuous improvement.
* Manage laboratory equipment lifecycle including procurement, calibration, verification, maintenance and fault escalation to ensure all equipment remains fit for purpose.
* Supervise and provide technical leadership to laboratory technicians and trainees, ensuring performance accountability and adherence to standard operating procedures.
* Conduct recruitment, induction, performance reviews and structured training programs, maintaining training and competency records.
* Ensure full compliance with WHS legislation and regulatory obligations, including the safe storage, handling and disposal of hazardous substances, and adherence to site-specific safety requirements, SWMS and traffic management controls during laboratory and field operations.
* Liaise professionally with clients, contractors and project stakeholders to manage expectations, resolve technical queries and support service delivery outcomes.
* Contribute to budgeting, operational planning and business improvement strategies to enhance efficiency, service quality and laboratory capability.
* Promote a culture of quality, data integrity, accountability and continuous improvement aligned with company values and industry best practice.
Qualifications
* Diploma of Laboratory Technology or Advanced Diploma of Laboratory Technology, or
* Degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
Experience
* Minimum 2 years' experience in construction materials testing across laboratory and field operations.
* Demonstrated experience operating within NATA-accredited laboratories and established Quality Management Systems.
* Proven experience in supervising or managing technical laboratory teams.
Licences and Certifications
* Current Australian Driver Licence.
* Construction Induction White Card.
* Radiation Use Licence.
Skills
* Advanced knowledge of Australian Standards and Queensland Transport and Main Roads test methods.
* Strong technical capability in reviewing, validating and authorising laboratory and field testing results.
* High-level attention to detail with strong documentation discipline and data integrity focus.
* Effective communication skills across written, verbal and client-facing contexts.
