The Observing Operations Hubs are the Bureau of Meteorology's Technical Operations centres comprising of 8 Hubs, one in each capital city and Cairns.Staff based at the Observing Operations Hub travel far and wide and into remote areas, utilising 4WDs, planes, boats and helicopters to maintain service delivery within the various instrumentation networks.
This includes:Rain RadarsAutomatic Weather Stations (AWS)Upper-Air monitoring systems (Sounding Balloons)Sea Level Monitoring StationsWave and Wave height buoysSatellite ground reception and space weather instrumentsFlood warning/rainfall monitoring systemsCooperative observers, volunteer rainfall stationsCommunications, telemetry and instrumentation systems
