Job overview & responsibilities
Experienced Offshore Chemist and Chemical Custodian for technically challenging oil field operations. The role will provide on-site technical assistance, chemical management, sample analysis, monitoring, and reporting programs.
What you will do
* Sampling and analysis of oil, gas and other critical systems as laid out but not limited to the offshore analysis plan as per agreed procedures.
* Provide technical support and information to onshore and offshore operations team during normal operations.
* Maintenance of daily logs as per the client system, and production of written and verbal handovers to ensure continuation of work.
* Generation of technical reports and reporting to client in a timely manner.
* Day to day management of chemical use and stock levels to ensure optimum performance and cost effectiveness.
* Timely ordering of chemicals required to operate the process, and to ensure stock levels are maintained.
* Logistical management of any temporary chemical injection systems including pumps and skids, ensuring accurate accounts of on-board equipment for cost effectiveness and timely back-load.
* Logistical management of all chemicals on-board, to ensure chemicals are transferred to correct location for use and back-loaded in a timely manner as per client procedures and processes.
* Investigation and rectification of issues with chemical injection systems according to client procedures.
* Create maintenance requests as per client maintenance reporting system.
* Day to day management and ordering of laboratory consumable stock levels and equipment.
* Re-calibration and re-certification of all laboratory equipment.
* Completion of any training as directed by the client to expand on competency, and conduct training of asset personnel to ensure adequate cover for all sampling.
* Demonstrate personal commitment to health, safety and the environment by showing active participation and support in all necessary operations meetings and new initiatives and improvements.
* Compliance with the client's culture and operating procedures, including toolbox talks and risk assessments. Carry out emergency response duties in accordance with the client's requirements.
* Evaluate process issues and provide recommendations for improvement through liaison with onshore support team.
Safety Responsibilities
* Adhere to company safety policies, procedures and rules and follow safe work practices.
* Participate in team consultation meetings to discuss workplace safety in the department.
* Report hazards promptly and participate in risk assessments; assist in identifying control measures to eliminate or minimize risk of injury.
* Wear personal protective equipment as required and report worn out or defective equipment.
* Participate in OHS activities such as training, inspections, investigations, and meetings as required.
Roster and Location
Roster: 14 days on and 14 days off or other even-time roster as determined by client.
Location: Based in South Australia (remote).
Job requirements
* A tertiary qualification in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Science or related discipline.
* Solid experience in servicing a technical product in the oil, gas and utility chemical market.
* A strong safety focus and ability to work in a multinational, multidisciplinary team while being self-motivated.
* Business acumen and technical skills to provide value to customers.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and an accomplished communicator.
* Personal drive and tenacity for sales growth, quality improvement and customer satisfaction.
* A valid and full driving license.
* Excellent computer skills.
