Nyrstar Hobart is a large‐scale zinc smelter located on Hobart's River Derwent, only a few kilometres from the Tasmanian capital's charming and cosmopolitan city centre. This is a rare opportunity to work on site in the resources industry, in a capital city location.

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Asset Management Team. If you are passionate about electrical engineering, thrive in a dynamic heavy industrial environment, and are ready to drive innovation within the Engineering sector, we want to hear from you!

About the Role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be an integral member of our Asset Management Team, with a primary purpose to provide electrical engineering expertise to assigned capital projects, ensuring safe, compliant and high‐quality outcomes across design, construction and commissioning activities. You will provide visible leadership and build strong relationships to ensure the identification of value‐adding and business‐critical initiatives.

Key Duties and Accountabilities

* Manage and execute engineering projects from initiation to completion.
* Develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones and critical path activities are achieved.
* Weekly reporting/updates, cost control and project tracking.
* Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with key peers and Project Owners across the site.
* Conduct regular inspections and audits specifically checking compliance of established standards and procedures.
* Offer technical support for troubleshooting and maintenance.
* Monitor and ensure that all electrical equipment and systems are installed and maintained in accordance with all statutory requirements and Nyrstar's Engineering Standards.

What We're Looking For

* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
* At least 5 years of experience in project engineering preferably within heavy industry.
* Demonstrated experience in the design of electrical, instrumentation, and PLC control systems.
* Excellent organisational, time management and communication skills.
* Ability to achieve results in a demanding and challenging environment.
* Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
* Experience with project management tools and systems.
* Experience in SAP would be highly regarded.
