Network Technician
This role is suited to an experienced network technician with a strong telecommunications networking background.
The successful candidate will work in the operations group, implementing and maintaining IP, MPLS, switched and optical networks. They will also assist with delivering new services.
This role involves fault diagnostics and restoration, planned works management and the support and maintenance of AARNet's Network.
* Fault Diagnostics & Service Restoration — The network technician will diagnose and resolve a range of network faults on metro area and long-haul transmission systems, both individually and as part of a team.
* Maintenance and replacement of active and passive telecommunications field equipment.
* Assistance with preparing fault analysis and reports, identifying areas for improvement to speed up resolution of future network issues.
Liaising with customers, suppliers, providers or network partners as required. Participation in software version upgrades across various network equipment. Documentation
Creation of internal service documentation and updating relevant systems.
Documentation of new and existing network installations, configuration and related information/data, test results and hardware management.
Decommissioning old hardware and services. Upgrading existing hardware as part of normal operation.
Identification and organisation of sparing requirements and return of faulty hardware under warranty or service contract.
