JS Careers is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Credit Risk Professional to join our client's Risk Management team. As a Credit Risk Professional, you will play a crucial role in assessing and managing credit risk associated with various lending activities, including unsecured lending to corporates, secured lending collateralised by hard assets and infrastructure, and equity investment into start-up companies. Your expertise in credit risk analysis and mitigation will be instrumental in ensuring the company's lending portfolio remains within acceptable risk thresholds.
Responsibilities :
* Conduct thorough credit risk assessments for unsecured lending to corporates, secured lending collateralised by hard assets and infrastructure, and equity investment into start-up companies.
* Evaluate the creditworthiness of prospective borrowers or investees by analysing financial statements, cash flow projections, industry trends, and other relevant factors.
* Assess the adequacy of collateral or security offered by borrowers / investees and recommend appropriate loan structures or investment terms.
* Develop and implement credit risk policies, procedures, and underwriting standards specific to each lending category.
* Monitor and review the credit quality and performance of existing loans and investments, identifying early warning signs and taking necessary actions to mitigate risk.
* Collaborate with various internal stakeholders, including Relationship Managers, Legal, Compliance, and Finance teams, to ensure adherence to credit risk policies and regulatory requirements.
* Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact credit risk in the targeted lending sectors.
* Provide expert advice and guidance to senior management on credit risk-related matters, including credit risk appetite, portfolio diversification, and potential risk exposures.
* Participate in credit committee meetings, presenting credit proposals and recommending appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
* Foster strong relationships with external stakeholders, such as credit rating agencies, industry associations, and regulatory bodies, to enhance risk management practices and benchmark against industry best practices.
Qualifications :
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification in Risk Management is desirable.
* Proven experience (4+ years) in credit risk analysis, preferably in a financial institution or lending environment, with a focus on unsecured lending to corporates, secured lending collateralised by hard assets and infrastructure, and equity investment into start-up companies.
* Strong understanding of credit risk assessment methodologies, financial statement analysis, cash flow modelling, and collateral valuation.
* Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks, such as Basel III, IFRS 9, and local credit risk guidelines.
* Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial information and identify key risk drivers.
* Solid knowledge of industry-specific risk factors and market dynamics in the targeted lending sectors.
* Proficiency in using credit risk assessment tools and software, as well as Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex credit risk concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
