Take the next step in your career with this exciting opportunity as the Medical Laboratory Scientist Senior, Microbiology HP4 - Provide advanced level scientific skills to support the delivery of diagnostic microbiology services to all clinical units at Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) in conformance with the policies, guidelines and strategies of Pathology Queensland
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
* Demonstrated high level knowledge, expertise, and skill in the delivery of scientific judgement within the discipline of microbiology including reading, interpretation and reporting of microscopy, culture and susceptibility testing. The microbiology laboratory at SCUH also performs molecular detection of respiratory viruses and STI pathogens – demonstrated knowledge in this area is desired.
* Ability to facilitate training and education of staff and contribute to the laboratory quality management system. This includes responsibility in maintaining the laboratory's quality management system and investigating and actioning non-compliance.
* Ability to participate in a Microbiology team and contribute a range of diagnostic skills relevant to the discipline.
* Ability to provide clinical services of a complex nature, where established principles, procedures and methods may require some expansion, adaptation, or modification.
Ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with National Association of Testing Authorities and International Organisation of Standardisation (NATA/ISO) accreditation/certification.
