Randstad is seeking a highly capable and motivated Senior Underground Mining Engineer to join our mining client's Technical Services team.
Reporting to the team superintendent, the Snr Underground Mining Engineer is responsible for leading a team of Mining engineers and designing, planning and executing technical mining activities. This role is crucial for ensuring production outcomes meet targets and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leading a small team of mining engineers
* Design of drilling, blasting and production plans
* Liaising with all stakeholders to ensure drill and blast designs meet site requirements
* Conduct regular inspections to ensure drill and blast activities are achieved in a safe and efficient manner
* Review of drilling, blasting and production plans as required
* Undertake QA/QC monitoring for production activities
* Undertaking stope reconciliations/abandonments on completion
* Management and monitoring of the blasting system
* Review and approval of survey memo's
* Monitor and maintain quality data with respect to underground performance
* Undertaking any projects necessary to improve processes and practices
* Design of mine development plans as required
* Assisting other mining engineering functions as required
* Assist with incident investigations and implement actions leading to continuous improvement of the site's safety performance
* Conduct task observations and critical control verifications as required
* Hazard identification, rectification and reporting inline with site requirements
* At least 8 years' experience working in an underground, hard rock, metalliferous mine
* Proven experience in drill and blast design in sub-level open stoping
* Experience in short term scheduling preferred but not essential
* Motivated and self-directed
* Ability to work in high pressure and dynamic environments
* Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships
* Actively promote safe production
* Ability to work independently in office and underground
* MS Office and Deswik suite software experience
* Tertiary qualifications in mining or civil engineering
* SA Driver's Licence or equivalent
* Current national police check or ability to obtain
This role is offered on an 8/6 FIFO roster ex Adelaide or Port Augusta airports. Relocation allowance or flight salary sacrifice for interstate applicants is negotiable.
