ABOUT THE ROLE
Darumbal Enterprises Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team in Rockhampton, on a part-time basis. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the role of Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the financial integrity and accountability of the organisation. The position is responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting standards, financial policies, and statutory requirements, while supporting effective financial planning, reporting, and management across all business units.
This role works collaboratively with the CEO and Executive Team to provide accurate financial advice, support decision-making, and strengthen the organisation's governance and operational capacity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in line with Australian Accounting Standards.
* Assist in preparation of and monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports under the supervision of the CFO.
* Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow statements.
* Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts on a regular basis.
* Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
* Monitor and report on project and program expenditure against budgets.
* Ensure compliance with ATO, ASIC, and other regulatory reporting obligations.
* Prepare and lodge BAS, PAYG, superannuation, and payroll tax returns.
* Support annual audit processes, liaising with external auditors and providing required documentation.
* Maintain compliance with internal financial control policies, delegations, and procedures.
* Assist in developing, reviewing, and implementing financial management policies and procedures.
* Assist payroll processing in accordance with Fair Work and award requirements.
* Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure timely payment of wages, superannuation, and leave entitlements.
* Provide financial and payroll reports to management as required.
* Provide financial insights and analysis to support organisational decision-making.
* Support business units and project managers in monitoring budgets and financial performance.
* Assist in the preparation of funding acquittals, grant reports, and financial submissions.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential:
* Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
* Membership or eligibility for membership with a recognised professional accounting body.
Desirable:
* Training or certification in MYOB, or equivalent financial management software.
* Knowledge of financial management within Aboriginal Community Controlled or Native Title Organisations or Not-for-Profit sectors.
* Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, ideally within a small to medium-sized organisation.
* Proven experience in budget preparation, forecasting, and financial reporting.
* Experience managing payroll and associated statutory obligations.
* Experience supporting audits and maintaining compliance with financial governance requirements.
* Prior experience working with community-based or Indigenous organisations will be highly regarded.
