The Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactivePurchasing Officerto join our Operations team. In this pivotal role, you will manage procurement activities that support production schedules and engineering requirements for our stainless and carbon steel products. You'll work closely with internal teams and suppliers to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant purchasing aligned with our quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Raise accurate and timely purchase orders based on BOMs, inventory and production requirements
Manage supply chain logistics, including international shipping and documentation
Collaborate with finance department on cost tracking, stocktakes, and document control
Resolve discrepancies and ensure prompt supplier payments
Prepare procurement strategies, tenders, and contracts
Negotiate with suppliers to achieve cost savings and performance improvements
Monitor inventory and implement stock control measures
Lead supplier performance reviews and corrective actions
Supervise Inventory & Warehouse Controller and Warehouse & Distribution Officer
Ensure compliance with ISO9001:2015 and internal QMS policies
Key Performance Indicators
Supplier On-Time Delivery > 95%
Procurement Cost Savings tracked against budget
Inventory Accuracy > 98% (Alignment between system stock and physical count)
On-Time PO Issuance > 98%
About You
Mandatory:
Advanced MS Office skills including Word and Excel
Strong negotiation and supplier evaluation skills
Understanding of quality standards and goods inspection processes
Well developed organisational and planning skills
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management
Knowledge of stainless steel industry standards
Experience in project environments and international logistics
Familiarity with ERP systems, SQL databases
Understanding of ISO9001 and Quality Management Systems
Additional Requirements
Valid Australian or International Driver's Licence
Legal entitlement to work in Australia
Working hours
Standard hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (1-hour lunch break)
