Role DescriptionThis is a part-time (0.4FTE), hybrid (in person/online) role for a Calm-Kids Facilitator located in Victoria. The Calm-Kids Facilitator will work with children with mental health concerns and their families, to develop and implement a lifestyle-based intervention focusing on physical activity, sleep, nutrition and screen time use, create a positive and supportive environment in person and online, and provide guidance and encouragement to promote a healthy lifestyle for improved mental health. The role involves collaboration with parents, health services, education and research staff to ensure the program meets the needs of participants. Administrative tasks, such as maintaining records of progress, and participating in training and development opportunities, are also part of the role.
QualificationsExperience in planning and facilitating activities for children, particularly lifestyle-focuses activities or mental health and well-being programsStrong interpersonal and communication skills for working with children, parents, and education professionalsStrong ability to engage children using developmentally appropriate, child-centred, and neurodiversity-affirming approaches.Organisational and administrative skills to manage program logistics and maintain accurate recordsA background in allied health (e.g. nutrition, exercise science/physical activity), physical education, education, psychology, social work, or a related field is highly desirableExperience working with children in an educational or therapeutic setting is an advantageAbility to work collaboratively and foster a positive environment.Knowledge of child and youth mental health literacy, including the ability to identify early signs of mental health risk, and promote awareness and early intervention strategies.
