Who we are
NORSTA Maritime is the Regional Maintenance Provider for the Regional Maintenance Centre North-East, delivering project management capabilities, technical expertise and quality assurance activities for the Royal Australian Navy fleet. Our advanced maritime sustainment planning coordinates fleet maintenance at scale across Far North Queensland, including Northern Australia and adjacent waters for the Commonwealth of Australia.
NOTE: Due to NORSTA Maritime's position as a Department of Defence contractor, we require all employees to be Australian citizens and able to hold a minimum Baseline Security Clearance with the ability to obtain access passes to HMAS Cairns and Cairns-based shipyards.

About you
Kickstart or grow your career in the dynamic world of Defence contracting. This role offers hands-on experience in contract administration, procurement, and stakeholder engagement—perfect for graduates or early-career professionals seeking a unique pathway into Defence industry.We also welcome applicants who are still studying and demonstrate the aptitude, motivation, and potential to grow into a successful career in the commercial space.
You may be:
* A recent law, commerce or business graduate (or close to finishing - a degree is not required), eager to apply your studies in a real-world setting.
* Paralegals are welcome to apply.
* Or you may already have some contract admin or procurement experience, looking for a step up and exposure to high-profile Defence projects.
* You’re detail-oriented, organised, a confident communicator, and ready to learn from experienced commercial professionals.
About the rolle
You’ll work closely with our Commercial Manager to:
* Support compliance with contractual obligations and Defence standards
* Prepare reports, correspondence, and contract documentation
* Assist with contract analysis, tenders, and pricing reviews
* Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and Defence representatives
* Gain hands-on experience with Defence’s contract management systems
What you'll need
* Strong MS Office skills
* Ability to manage competing deadlines
* Eagerness to learn and contribute to a collaborative team
* Australian citizenship and ability to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance
* (Bonus) Prior contract admin or procurement experience
