The Monitored Medicines and Compliance Unit of the Health Protection & Regulation Branch are looking for a Senior Investigations Officer to join their team. In this role you undertake investigations and report on compliance with the provisions of the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019 and other relevant legislation. You will also be providing specialist and authoritative advice, reports, and recommendations in relation to relevant legislation, policies, procedures, programs, and work practices.

* Plan and conduct investigations in relation to compliance with the provisions of the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019, and other relevant legislation in accordance with approved policies, protocols, procedures, and ethical and professional practice standards.
* Liaise with health practitioners and potential witnesses and collect, analyse, and document evidence in matters for investigation.
* Provide the management of MMCU with detailed, accurate and timely reports with findings and recommendations.
* Maintain appropriate manual and electronic record system to ensure effective case management.
* Prepare and institute the appropriate regulatory action and/or legal proceedings for breaches of legislation.
* Provide specialist professional advice and consultancy, information, and support to, other units, Public Health Units, and other regulatory bodies.

About you

We are searching for someone who has:

* Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, protocols, and procedures including demonstrated ability to advise, apply and interpret their provisions within a compliance and investigation setting dealing with sensitive and complex issues.
* Proven ability in undertaking investigations including the identification and analyses of complex issues, gathering evidence, recording information, research, problem solving and report writing.
* Knowledge or ability to obtain knowledge of legislation, policies, protocols and procedures and their application preferably within a compliance framework.
* Ongoing/completed study for a higher qualification in investigation or compliance matters is encouraged.
