We are seeking an Intermediate Production Engineer to support the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of manufacturing activities across our production operations.
About the Role
Reporting into the Production Operations function, the Intermediate Production Engineer is responsible for managing assigned manufacturing jobs from release through to completion. The role sits between design engineering and the workshop, with a strong focus on build readiness, quality, supplier coordination, and practical problem-solving.
This position is suited to an engineer who is comfortable taking ownership of production work scopes, coordinating across teams, and making sound engineering decisions within defined frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, set up, and manage production jobs from engineering release to close-out
* Develop and maintain job structures, routings, and documentation within the ERP system
* Coordinate workshop activities to meet schedule, quality, and cost expectations
* Interpret engineering drawings and assemblies, identifying risks, constraints, and improvement opportunities
* Liaise with suppliers for quoting, lead times, and technical clarification
* Support in-house and external manufacturing quality inspections and acceptance activities
* Prepare and maintain manufacturing, inspection, and quality documentation
* Support ISO 9001 quality systems, NCR management, and corrective actions
* Provide practical feedback to design engineering to improve manufacturability and repeatability
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across production and supply chain processes
Experience & Capability
* Degree or diploma qualification in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Manufacturing, or related engineering discipline
* Experience in a production, manufacturing, or operations-focused engineering role (4-8yrs)
* Ability to independently manage assigned jobs with appropriate escalation where required
* Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and assemblies
* Familiarity with machining, fabrication, assembly, and test processes
* ERP experience preferred (Epicor advantageous but not essential)
* Experience using SolidWorks or similar CAD systems
* Competent with Microsoft Office; project or scheduling tools beneficial
* Clear communicator with workshop personnel, engineers, and suppliers
