The Opportunity
TRI Australasia is a NATA-accredited leader in geosynthetics testing and research. As a profitable subsidiary of the US-based Texas Research International (TRI), we combine the agility of a 14-person local team with the stability of an international parent company.
We are seeking a commercially-minded Management Accountant to own the finance function and administrative operations at our Gold Coast laboratory. Reporting directly to the Business Director and the US-based CFO, you will be the \"right hand\" to leadership—moving beyond just \"correct\" numbers to providing the insights that drive our $5M+ revenue business forward.
The Role
This is a high-impact, \"intersection\" role where finance meets operations. You won’t just be sitting behind a screen; you will be on the floor, understanding the \"story\" behind the data, and ensuring our project-based billing and QMS systems are airtight.
Key Responsibilities:
* Full-Cycle Accounting: End-to-end management of AP/AR, reconciliations, and payroll coordination with our external firm.
* Commercial Insight: Prepare monthly management reports (P&L by product line, margin analysis, and budget vs. actual) with commentary that offers genuine foresight, not just hindsight.
* Project Accounting: Own the billing cycle—verifying source documentation, authorizing services, and generating customer invoices with precision.
* Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in our workflows, implement smarter systems (Xero-focused), and strengthen financial controls.
* Stakeholder Management: Handle collections with grace and partner with the US Corporate team to align local performance with global reporting standards.
* Systems Agility: Quickly learn and work across multiple platforms (e.g., Acumatica, Xero, and Salesforce) to support accounting, reporting, and operational workflows.
About You
You are a CA/CPA qualified professional who is bored by \"pure\" compliance. You want your work to matter. You are the person the Director calls first because they trust your pulse on the business.

Qualifications & Experience
* Credentials: Tertiary degree in Accounting/Finance and CA/CPA qualification (required).
* Experience: 5+ years in a B2B environment. Experience in project-based industries or testing laboratories is a significant plus.
* Tech-Savvy: Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Xero. You should be comfortable navigating an ever-evolving tech landscape.
* Local: This is a full-time, on-site role at our Burleigh Heads facility.
* Systems Agility: Quickly learn and work across multiple platforms (e.g., Acumatica, Xero, and Salesforce) to support accounting, reporting, and operational workflows.
