About the organisation
Marinus Link is one of Australia's most significant renewable energy infrastructure projects — a transformative undersea and underground electricity and data interconnector linking North West Tasmania and the Latrobe Valley in Victoria. The project will strengthen Australia's national grid, support the transition to cleaner energy, and deliver major economic benefits across Tasmania and Victoria. Supported by a $3.8 billion concessional finance commitment from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation in addition to equity contributions from the Commonwealth, Victorian and Tasmanian governments, Marinus Link is moving from planning to major construction, with Stage 1 works commencing in 2026.
About the role
Reporting to the Chief Financial and Commercial Officer, the Finance Director will be responsible for the financial governance, planning, reporting, and commercial oversight of Marinus Link during a period of significant capital expenditure and operational scale‑up. Operating within a complex, highly regulated clean‑energy environment, the role will lead and develop the finance team, working closely with executive leadership, project teams, delivery partners and contractors to provide trusted financial insight and stewardship. The Finance Director will foster strong collaboration while embedding the financial discipline and risk controls required to deliver the project on time and within the defined financial envelope.
About you
You are a CPA/CFA qualified finance leader with significant experience in regulated financial management, preferably within the energy sector. You possess a deep understanding of the financial reporting requirements for major infrastructure construction projects, including the management of large capital projects and the execution of funding strategies. Your ability to lead and influence senior stakeholders is complemented by strong strategic and analytical skills. You have demonstrated resilience and agility in high-change project environments, with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and exercise risk-based decision-making. Importantly, you bring commercial acumen, a proactive, inclusive mindset and a passion for helping deliver a project that will support Australia's energy future.
