We are seeking to fill a position for an Aboriginal female Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Worker (Aboriginal Focused) position in Riverina Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (RWDVCAS). This position will be part of a team committed to eliminating violence against women and their children. This role is offered on a fixed term contract basis (35 hours per week) until 30th June 2028 and is based in our Wagga Wagga office servicing Cootamundra, Gundagai, Junee, Temora, Tumbarumba, Tumut and Wagga Wagga Local Courts.
Workers in Riverina WDVCAS provide intake, information and referrals, threat assessment, case coordination, court assistance and court advocacy to WDVCAS clients. They work in partnership with NSW Police, local courts, legal representatives and referral agencies to ensure safety and support for women who are experiencing domestic violence. Riverina WDVCAS provides court assistance and court advocacy before, during and after court for clients who are going through the ADVO process at courts within the Riverina WDVCAS district.
The Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Worker (Aboriginal Focused) provides accessible and relevant services to women and their children.
The Aboriginal Focused worker will be responsible maintaining and developing links with local Aboriginal communities to promote the services of the WDVCAS and encourage women to use the services. There will also be the expectation that the Aboriginal Focused worker participates in and facilitates community engagement.
Applicants should have a commitment to empowering women and children affected by domestic and family violence and have demonstrated ability to engage effectively with clients in crisis.

* A willingness to learn the legal system in relation to Apprehended Violence Orders.
* Ability to work with local Aboriginal communities and the broader community to promote awareness of domestic and family violence and WDVCAS services.
* Excellent communication, networking, organisational and administrative skills.
* Current unrestricted drivers' licence with the ability to travel.
* Current clearance in relation to Working with Children and other relevant Police Force checks.
