The role is based at DroneShield’s central Sydney headquarters. About The Role DroneShield is seeking a Full Stack Engineer to join the Access Portal team - the central interface through which customers manage their DroneShield systems, retrieve data, keep their systems up to date with the latest software, and access tools such as the 3D Planning Tool and UAS Incidents Database. In this role, you will extend the Portal’s capabilities into new areas, specifically building out the Learning Management System functionality, as well as later scaling out our MLOps capabilities, scalable data transport, deeper product integrations, continued API development and, contributing to the evolution of the 3D Planning Tool. You will work under the guidance of the Access Portal Lead and engage closely with senior engineers inside and outside the team. Responsibilities, Duties And Expectations Assist in the development and integration of a Learning Management System (LMS) into the Access Portal, including support for SCORM-compliant training content, user progress tracking, access control, and reporting tools. Design and develop new functionality to improve the usability and capability of the Access Portal. Work closely with the wider software engineering team to turn product ideas into production-ready features. Take ownership of the services and code you build, including deployment and operational performance. Qualifications, Experience And Skills Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar technical field, or equivalent experience. 3–5 years’ experience as a software engineer in production environments. Strong experience with TypeScript and modern web frameworks—React preferred. Hands-on experience building REST APIs using Node.js. Experience with NestJS is highly preferable. Strong understanding of AWS infrastructure, including deployment, monitoring, and scaling cloud-native applications Strong understanding of AWS infrastructure, including deployment, monitoring, and scaling cloud-native applications Understanding of microservices architecture. Experience in one or more of the following areas: Web application development Distributed or parallel systems Large-scale software systems Security-focused development Familiarity with Docker, Postman, GitLab, and AWS is a bonus.
