About the role

We are seeking a Team Leader to join the Adult Step-Up Step-Down residential service in Cairns. In this fixed-term, full-time role, you will provide practice leadership and operational oversight to deliver high-quality, recovery-oriented support to people living with a psychosocial disability. You will coach and mentor staff, foster a supportive team culture, and collaborate with clinical and community services to help people achieve their recovery goals.

Key responsibilities

* Lead, coach, and support a dedicated team to deliver high-quality, recovery-oriented support aligned with Mind's Model of Recovery Oriented Practice.
* Provide direct, person-centred support to people, enabling them to develop independent living skills and transition back to the community through a staged recovery approach.
* Act as the practice lead, providing staff with supervision, mentoring, and coaching, while modelling effective support to people, families, and carers.
* Oversee daily service operations including administration, rostering, handovers, incident management, and monitoring of budget and compliance requirements.
* Facilitate group programs that promote life skills, wellbeing, and social connection, using co-production and recovery principles.
* Build and maintain strong partnerships with clinical services and community organisations to ensure a coordinated, integrated response to people's recovery goals.

What you'll bring

* Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Peer Work, Psychology, Social Work, or other health-related field.
* Demonstrated experience supporting people with mental health challenges and complex needs, with the ability to lead teams using recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and family-inclusive practices.
* Hold a current First Aid and CPR certification.
* Ability to provide proof of vaccination against vaccine preventable diseases or willingness to obtain required vaccinations per Queensland Health partnership.
