We are partnering with a leading building services contractor seeking an experienced
Mechanical Design Engineer
to join their Sydney team. We are looking for a senior-level engineer who can take ownership of mechanical services design across
commercial new-build and fit-out projects up to $25m
.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality HVAC and mechanical designs from concept through to detailed documentation. The position requires strong technical capability, excellent coordination skills, and the ability to work closely with architects, consultants, and construction teams.
Key Responsibilities
Produce load calculations, schematics, drawings, and technical specifications
Work confidently with CAD/BIM tools (AutoCAD, Revit MEP)
Coordinate design with internal and external stakeholders
Prepare engineering reports
Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards and codes
Provide design support during construction phases, including site visits and commissioning reviews
Mentor junior engineers and support overall design quality
Candidate Requirements
7–8+ years
mechanical design engineering experience within building services
Experience delivering
commercial projects up to ~$25m
Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
Strong knowledge of HVAC system design, load calculations, and energy-efficient solutions
Proficiency with design and modelling software
Strong communication skills and the ability to manage project deadlines
Confident operating at a senior/lead design level
