Children and Youth Domestic Violence Counsellor Job
This is an exciting opportunity to provide specialist therapeutic interventions for children and young people impacted by domestic and family violence.
The role will be based at our office and involve some outreach providing individual and group-based interventions, with a focus on complex and high-risk clients.
* Provide evidence-based therapeutic assessment and interventions for children, young people, and their families impacted by FDV, with a particular focus on clients with complex needs.
* Provide crisis intervention for clients with a recent trauma experience.
* Design and deliver evidence-based group counselling interventions and psychoeducational programs.
* Interagency consultation and collaborative case management.
* Community and sector networking and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
* Active engagement in reflective practice, clinical supervision, and professional development.
Requirements:
* A Bachelor qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or Counselling and eligibility for membership in the relevant professional association. A post-graduate qualification is highly desirable.
* At least 2 years' experience in a dedicated counselling role with children, young people, and their families.
* Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of trauma-informed care and practice.
* Well-developed understanding of family and domestic violence and the impacts of trauma consistent with best practice theoretical frameworks.
* Understanding and appreciation of issues for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people from CALD backgrounds.
* Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
