About the Role
This is a senior strategic role supporting the design and delivery of a department-wide Insurance Strategy initiative within a complex public sector environment.
As the Insurance Strategist, you will lead the development of key strategic products, shape policy and implementation approaches, and provide high-level advice to senior executives. You will play a pivotal role in advancing insurance reform, including the insurance premium program of work and broader insurance strategy development.
Working closely with internal insurance specialists, finance, and cross-department stakeholders, you will help design and deliver a coordinated, future-focused insurance approach across a large and diverse organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development and delivery of strategic products supporting the insurance strategy initiative, including executive-level briefings, reports, and decision papers.
* Provide high-quality strategic advice and implementation planning to senior executives and governance forums.
* Conduct research, environmental scanning, and analysis to inform options and recommendations for decision-makers.
* Coordinate planning, reporting, and delivery activities across the insurance premium program of work.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships across finance, risk, insurance, procurement, and operational stakeholders.
* Engage and influence key internal and external partners to support alignment and delivery of complex initiatives.
* Monitor progress, identify risks and issues, and ensure effective reporting to leadership.
* Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing risk and assurance function and support continuous improvement.
About You
* Strategic thinker with strong experience operating in complex program, policy, or insurance environments, confident working across senior stakeholders and translating complex information into clear, actionable advice.
* Experience delivering or supporting significant strategic, policy, or program initiatives, strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability, ability to manage complex technical subject matter and deliver clear reporting outputs, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and experience in governance, risk, insurance, or public sector environments will be highly regarded.
