The
Senior Server Engineer
is responsible for designing and implementing the Darwin-based organisations server operating system environments to ensure stability, performance, resilience, and security across IT and Operational Technology workloads.
The role provides specialist Windows Server, Active Directory, and VMware administration services within a team that builds, manages, and maintains the organisations application-hosting environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Design, implement and maintain Windows Server and Active Directory environments in support of migrating workloads to a new Active Directory Forest in a sensitive and high-availability setting, following all relevant policies and procedures.
Design, implement and maintain VMware virtualisation infrastructure.
Implement security remediation and uplift in accordance with Australian Signals Directorate and the Darwin-based organisations requirements.
Implement and utilise monitoring, vulnerability, and fault analysis tools to troubleshoot and optimise operating environments.
Install, customise and maintain Windows Server operating systems and server hardware in line with service level expectations.
Diagnose and resolve complex technical problems in consultation with clients, staff, external service providers and vendors.
Create documentation to support the organisations operating environments, including architecture and as-built/as-configured documentation.
Work closely with stakeholders and system owners across multi-disciplinary teams.
Carry out duties in accordance with safety, environmental and quality policies, safety principles, corporate values, and organisational strategies.

Essential Criteria
Demonstrated knowledge and experience implementing and managing Windows Server and Active Directory in accordance with Microsoft and ASD recommendations.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience performing Active Directory migrations in high-availability environments.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience implementing and managing VMware virtualisation infrastructure in accordance with VMware and ASD recommendations.
High attention to detail with good communication skills with stakeholders and clients, and experienced in technical writing.
Ability to carry out duties in accordance with the Darwin-based organisations safety, environmental and quality policies and corporate values and strategies.
Desirable Criteria
Sound understanding of Information Management Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
Familiarity with operational technology environments and their unique constraints (SCADA, DCS, PLC).
Industry certifications or equivalents: AZ-800 & AZ-801 / MCSA / MCSE / VCP-DCV.
