LEAD SAFETY, INFLUENCE CULTURE, PROTECT WHAT MATTERS

About You

Are you passionate about creating safe, healthy and productive workplaces? We're looking for a dedicated safety professional to champion workplace safety and wellbeing across a range of work environments within our diverse organisation.

In this key leadership role, you'll mentor and guide a team in delivering streamlined workplace health and safety services. You'll work in collaboration to design and promote programs and initiatives that encourage and support proactive, safe practices and behaviours.

As an experienced safety leader, you'll provide trusted advice and support to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance and build organisational capability and engagement. You'll identify emerging industry trends and deliver innovative, yet practical solutions that are responsive to organisational needs and align with corporate objectives.

Whether you're ready for your next challenge or looking to take the next step in your career, this role offers you the executive support and strategic scope to make a real impact. This is your opportunity to share your vision and expertise as part of a management team that is committed to the safe, effective delivery of vital Council services to our community.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, Corporate Services, you'll oversee the provision of workplace health and safety, rehabilitation and wellness services at Council. With four direct reports and broad strategic responsibility, you'll lead a dedicated team to deliver strategies, policies, programs and systems that promote and support a safety-focused culture, whilst ensuring legislative compliance and appropriate risk management. You'll work in partnership with leaders at all levels to provide timely, responsive, and consistent advice, with a focus on embedding key safety practices and providing a safe and healthy work environment.

Who We're Looking For

* A collaborative and strategic leader with exceptional communication skills and a strong commitment to service excellence and stakeholder engagement.
* A degree-qualified professional with extensive workplace health and safety experience at a senior level.
* Demonstrated experience leading and guiding a high-performing team and managing the delivery of systems, programs and services that support safe workplace practices.
* Proven ability in setting policy direction and leading change initiatives that promote and embed a strong safety culture.
* Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and projects while ensuring ongoing legislative compliance and meeting corporate objectives.
* A personal alignment with Council's values of Honesty, Accountability, Respect, Teamwork, and Safety and Wellbeing.

What We Offer

* A career-defining leadership role with the opportunity to shape a proactive safety culture and influence corporate outcomes.
* A supportive, values-driven organisation committed to innovation, safety and professional development.
* A three-year renewable contract, with an attractive, negotiable remuneration package.

About Council

The Toowoomba Region is about rich traditions and bold ambitions. The region is boldly forging new opportunities around the Surat Basin resource sector, education, health, transport and massive infrastructure investments. Growth hasn't come at the expense of liveability though, with Toowoomba twice voted in the top 5 most family friendly cities in Australia.

Toowoomba Regional Council services a regional population of 178,500 and employs a team of approximately 1,600 staff, dedicated and passionate about delivering excellent customer service to the community, residents and visitors throughout the region.
