* Digital Content & Knowledge Translation Officer - Gambling Harm Reduction

* Casual position Starting ASAP

* HEO 5 Step 1 $61.44 per hour plus Superannuation

About the opportunity

This role focuses on creating engaging, consumer-facing digital content to help people understand how gambling problems develop and how harm can be reduced.

Working closely with clinicians and researchers, you will translate complex ideas into accessible videos, short-form digital content, and interactive digital psychoeducational resources designed to reach people before they engage with formal treatment.

You do not need to be a clinician or gambling expert. What matters most is your ability to ask the right questions, understand unfamiliar material quickly, and communicate it clearly and responsibly to a public audience. You will work within a team of researchers and clinicians who will provide support and guidance with content. This is a fast-moving role focused on producing usable content iteratively, rather than developing polished materials in a single pass.

Who this role is suited to

This role is well suited to people with experience in digital content production, communications, journalism, or media who have worked in or alongside health, mental health, or social service settings (e.g. intake, support, community programs).

It is not intended for qualified clinicians or researchers, but for someone who excels at translating expert knowledge into clear, engaging public-facing content.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

* work with clinicians and researchers to extract key insights and translate them into short-form videos, scripts, and digital interactive psychoeducational resources for the public.

* create content that helps people recognise common gambling-related thought patterns and behaviours, with a focus on early awareness and harm reduction.

* plan, script, create, and edit digital content (e.g., video, animation, or other digital resources) using accessible in-house tools.

* apply judgement about tone, framing, and level of detail to maximise behavioural relevance while avoiding stigma or unintended promotion of gambling.

* ensure all content reflects best practice in equity, accessibility and cultural safety principles and communication frameworks.

* undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required.

About you

* a relevant qualification or equivalent experience in content creation, communications, journalism, digital media, public health, or a related field.

* demonstrated ability to quickly understand unfamiliar or complex health-related topics by asking effective questions and synthesising information from subject matter experts.

* demonstrated experience creating digital content for public audiences (especially video or multimedia)

* experience scripting, producing, and editing digital content (formal training not required; practical experience valued).

* ability to tailor content to different levels of knowledge and motivation

* comfort working with sensitive topics in a non-judgemental, ethical way

* excellent time and workload management skills with the ability to manage interruptions and changes to work priorities to achieve deadlines and required outcomes.

* computer Literacy

* experience engaging with diverse internal and external project stakeholders

* demonstrated experience in project management

Sponsorship / work rights for Australia

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This role requires valid work rights for Australia.
