Xavier College invites applications for a compassionate and experienced College Counsellor at our Two Wells (R–11) Campus. In this role, you will deliver quality counselling services that support students’ emotional, social and academic wellbeing, fostering a safe and inclusive environment where young people feel heard, supported and empowered within the College’s Catholic and Salesian tradition.
This is a permanent, part-time position, Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm, working during school terms and the week prior to the commencement of Term 1.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide professional counselling support to students experiencing emotional, social or academic challenges, promoting their ongoing wellbeing and personal growth
* Be an integral member of the College’s student care and wellbeing services
* Serve as a specialist resource for teaching staff, offering guidance and strategies to support student wellbeing and resilience
* Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding issues affecting students’ wellbeing and family relationships
* Build and maintain partnerships with allied health professionals and external support agencies to enhance student care
* Promote a safe, positive and inclusive culture among students and staff
* Maintain accurate, secure and confidential case notes, records and reports for all counselling interventions
* Collaborate regularly with College leadership to discuss trends, concerns and initiatives related to student wellbeing

To be successful, you will need:
* A University qualification in Counselling (or equivalent) and comprehensive demonstrated knowledge in a similar role
* A current registration and/or membership of a relevant and recognised professional organisation/registration body
* Have a strong background in case management, conflict resolution and managing critical incidents involving student welfare
* Current and acceptable Working with Children Clearance and screening to work in Catholic Education SA
* Catholic Police Clearance to work in Catholic Education SA
* Current Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse & Neglect – Education and Care certificate
* First Aid certificate (HLTAID012)
* Possess enthusiasm, professionalism, and a strong sense of community
