The Role

Marymead CatholicCare and ACT Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) work in partnership to operate STEPS. The STEPS Program provides 24-hour residential support to young people aged 13 to 18 years who have moderate to severe mental distress. The program is a step up/step down model working within a case management framework to assist young people to identify recovery goals and work towards these with their CAMHS clinician and other supports, including family. The program services young people from across the whole of the ACT.

The STEPS Youth Case Manger provides quality Case Management, which is client focused and strength based. The aim of this role is to build resilience and coping strategies in dealing with mental health issues through early intervention, collaborative engagement, service coordination, information/education, short term therapeutic interventions, referral and advocacy.

This position requires effective time management, stakeholder engagement and administration skills. You will be required to work with minimal supervision, as well as working effectively within a large team.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* Tertiary qualification(s) in a related field, i.e., Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, etc.

* Minimum qualification requirements are Diploma level in a related field and/or at least 3 years’ experience in working with complex young people and/or families.

* Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, organisational time management skills

* Ability to respond appropriately to crisis situations and to clients presenting with complex issues

* Hold a current drivers’ license, a current Working with Vulnerable People card and be willing to undergo a police check.

Competent in the use of Information Technology.

Key Attributes:
- Strong understanding of youth mental health issues and challenges facing young people.
- Knowledge of strengths-based case management and recovery-focused practice.
- Understanding of relevant legislation, standards, policies, and codes (including EEO, WHS, privacy, and confidentiality).
- Knowledge of the welfare sector, service models, and quality assurance standards.
- Experience supporting young people in crisis.
- Ability to work collaboratively and coordinate services with multiple stakeholders.
- Motivated, ethical, and accountable professional who takes responsibility for their work.
- Resilient and able to work effectively under pressure and manage change.
- Strong interpersonal skills including empathy, emotional intelligence, and persuasion.
- Reliable team player who is punctual, meets deadlines, and maintains a positive, enthusiastic approach.
- Commitment to social equity and supporting positive outcomes for young people.
