The role of a Software Asset Manager involves overseeing the delivery of key managed outcomes, including management of the software request resolver group for assigned customers, contribution to cost savings and avoidance activities, reporting on software license entitlements, consumption, and usage, as well as operation of software asset management technology.


Key Responsibilities

* Management of the Software Request Resolver Group: This involves managing the software request resolver group in the ITSM technology, ensuring that all requests are resolved efficiently and effectively.
* Maintenance of the Software Asset Register: The successful candidate will maintain the software asset register, proof of entitlement, and contract evidence in collaboration with the software asset manager, customer, application owners, procurement/finance, and contract stakeholders.
* Allocation of Licenses: Allocate licenses to users and devices in the SAM technology resulting from approved software requests.
* Software License Reclamation: Apply the software license reclamation policy to software inventory, identifying and reclaiming unused or underutilized licenses.
* Technical Support: Provide technical support to install software through the supply of media and keys, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
* Licensing Queries: Respond to or escalate licensing queries from stakeholders, providing timely and accurate information.
* Software Renewal Calendar: Maintain the software renewal calendar, ensuring that all software licenses are up-to-date and compliant.
* Reporting: Deliver or support the delivery of effective license position and software utilization reports in accordance with the documented reporting schedule.
* Compliance: Identify and report compliance issues and risks, ensuring that all software assets are properly licensed and compliant with regulatory requirements.


Requirements

* Sound Technical Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of software asset management principles and standards, as well as sound technical knowledge in IT.
* ITSM Tools: Working knowledge of ITSM tools such as Service Now, Cherwell, and Remedy.
* Microsoft Office: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.


Desirable Skills

* Software License Agreements: Understanding of software license agreements, license metrics, product terms, and use rights.
* Financial Terms: Understanding of financial terms such as cost, value, utilization, revenue, capex, opex, ROI/TTV.


Skills and Qualifications

* Attention to Detail: Strong focus on data quality and accuracy.
* Process Management: Ability to follow processes and procedures and recommend improvements where appropriate.
* Analytical Skills: Ability to work on issues where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of relevant factors.

* Communication: Excellent customer relationship building and management skills.
* Influencing: Strong influencing and reasoning ability.
* Presentation: Effective presentation skills.

* Problem-Solving: Ability to escalate with a solution focus.


Experience

* Large Information Services Company: 2+ years' experience in a large information services company in asset management, configuration management, or a service desk function.
* ITSM Tools: Experience using ITSM tools such as Service Now, Cherwell, CA Service Desk, and Remedy.
* Customer-Facing Activities: Experience managing customer-facing activities in an IT service management role, including request management.
* Team Environment: Demonstrated experience working in a team environment, as well as autonomously.


Qualifications and Certifications

* ITIL Foundation Certification: ITIL foundation certification.
* SAM Accreditation: SAM accreditation, e.g., IAITAM CSAM, Microsoft SAM certified, FinOps, etc.
* SAM Technology: Certification with any SAM technology, particularly Flexera Software, Snow Software, or Service Now.
