We are seeking an experienced and people-focused Carer Recruitment & Development (CR&D) Coordinator to lead and support our Northern NSW team, based primarily in Lismore, with regular travel to Grafton.
This is a hands-on leadership role combining team coordination, carer recruitment, community engagement, and practice support, with flexibility, autonomy, and strong organisational backing.
About the role
The CR&D Coordinator supports both the Lismore and Grafton offices, providing leadership and oversight to a small team of part-time CR&D workers, while remaining actively involved in recruitment, assessments, and community engagement.
You will:
* Be based in Lismore or Grafton at least 3 days per week
* Travel to Grafton at least once per week (pool car provided)
* Work from home 1–2 days per week by agreement
* Occasionally support home visits, carer reviews, and assessments (some after hours to suit working families)
* Participate in some after-hours recruitment activities, including community events, markets, and information sessions (on average one weekend per month)
All after-hours work is recognised through Time in Lieu (TIL) — for example, 4 hours worked on a Sunday (including travel) accrues 8 hours TIL, which can be taken flexibly with manager approval.
Key responsibilities
* Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and support to CR&D staff across Lismore and Grafton
* Coordinate and contribute to carer recruitment, assessment, training and retention activities
* Support staff with home visits, carer reviews, information exchanges and assessments when required
* Lead and participate in community engagement and recruitment events, including after-hours and weekend activities
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policy, and practice frameworks
* Work collaboratively with regional leadership and community engagement teams
* Maintain accurate records, reporting, and recruitment pipelines
About the team You will oversee three part-time CR&D staff:
* Lismore: 1 experienced CR&D worker (9 days per fortnight)
* Grafton:
* 1 experienced CR&D worker (3 days per week)
* 1 vacant CR&D position (4 days per week)
All team members work a mix of office-based, work-from-home, and community recruitment activity, accruing TIL for after-hours work.
About you
We're looking for someone who brings:
* Previous leadership or management experience (essential)
* Experience in community services, OOHC, foster/kinship care, family services, or similar
* Confidence supporting staff and working alongside them in practice
* Strong relationship-building and communication skills
* Willingness to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends
* A current driver's licence and the ability to travel across Northern NSW
Training will be provided, but prior experience leading people and managing competing priorities is important.
What's on offer
* SCHADS Award Level 7 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
* Full-time, ongoing role
* Flexible work arrangements, including WFH
* Pool vehicle for work travel
* Time in Lieu for all after-hours work
* A supportive, values-driven organisation with a strong focus on staff wellbeing and professional development
