We are seeking a Casual Commis Chef to join our Culinary Team. The successful candidate will be trained across both Breakfast Service and Banquets, with a minimum of 20 hours per week (Monday to Sunday).
Job Requirements
* Strong understanding of standard cooking techniques, knife skills, and kitchen equipment.
* Ability to follow recipes, prepare ingredients, and carry out basic cooking tasks efficiently.
* Experience with breakfast preparation, including batch cooking and maintaining consistency in taste and presentation.
* Ability to work effectively in a busy banquet environment while maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and maintain an efficient workstation.
* Able to take direction from senior chefs (e.g., Sous Chef, Head Chef) while maintaining a positive attitude under pressure.
* Flexible and adaptable to the varying needs of both Banquets and à la carte service.
* Solid understanding of food safety standards and safe food-handling practices.
* Maintain a clean and sanitized workstation, ensuring equipment, utensils, and surfaces meet hygiene standards.
* Punctual, reliable, and committed to consistent performance.
* Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting reasonable weights, especially when preparing large batches for banquets.
* Ability to remain calm, positive, and cooperative during busy or stressful periods.
* Understanding of banquet operations, including timing, coordination with front-of-house teams, and accommodating large group needs such as dietary requirements or buffet-style service.
