About the role Our First Nations team are actively souring a Cultural Specialist to join their team in Darwin on a permanent, full-time basis working 38-hours per week. This role attracts a salary of $41.08 - $44.06 / hour gross base. This important role will see you supporting the delivery of our First Nations programs to ensure our First Nations residents and clients remain connected to their culture and country. You will provide strong advocacy to ensure their voices are heard and maintain a feeling of connection and belonging. Tasks include, however, not limited to language and story support – Educating our carers on the family history of our residents. Cultural activities including music, painting and traditional foods and being an advocate and voice for our residents and families for the care that is provide to them. You will also support the team’s orientation to new staff in presenting cultural applications. This role would suit a self-starter who is proactive and able to work independently. You will be able to commit to full-time hours of 38 per week. Some travel across the NT maybe required in this role. Telus Employee Wellbeing & Emotional Support Skills & experience To be considered for this role, we will be looking at the following experience and qualifications: Identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, with knowledge and connection to the Top End or Central Australia. Ability to speak local language and communicate effectively with ATSI people. Demonstrated sensitivity to the cultural requirements of indigenous people and their families. Able to commit to full-time hours – Working 38 hours per week Monday – Friday primarily. Ability to use on initiative, work autonomously with sound judgement. Prior experience working preferably within a not for profit environment support First Nations.
