* Step into the General Manager seat of a high-performing, privately owned civil contractor
* Partner directly with an entrepreneurial owner to improve delivery edge and drive performance
* Profit share from day one, with a genuine pathway to meaningful equity over time
My client has built a strong reputation within the Perth land development and site civil construction market over more than two decades, delivering subdivision and infrastructure works to a consistently high standard. That reputation has been earned through a consistent ability to deliver for clients, with strong levels of repeat work and positive audit outcomes reinforcing their position in the market. As a result, the business has grown significantly and now operates at scale across multiple projects and clients. Yet, there is still a family feel and a culture of integrity, honesty and transparency, just as there has always been.
As the business has grown toward and beyond the $100m mark, the nature of leadership required across delivery has evolved. What can be driven instinctively in a smaller environment requires a different level of structure, consistency and accountability at scale. With multiple projects, teams and moving parts now in play, maintaining the same level of urgency and execution across the board becomes less about individual effort and more about strong, visible performance leadership. This role has been created to bring that alignment and discipline as the business continues to grow.
Working directly with the owner and being granted real freedom in the role, you will take full responsibility for the operational performance of the business. This is a true General Manager role - not a title in waiting, and not a layer being built over time. You will be the individual who ensures that what is promised is delivered, that issues are solved early, and that the business returns to operating with clarity, discipline and intent.
The fundamentals are strong. The business has good people, established systems and a solid forward workload. What it requires is a leader who can bring those elements together, hold the line on performance, and drive consistency across multiple projects and teams. This is not about overhaul; it is about tightening, sharpening and leading.
The profile sought is specific.
You MUST come from within the WA civil construction contracting market, with experience in land development, subdivisions and associated site works. You will have operated at Construction Manager or equivalent level, with responsibility for significant volumes of work and a strong understanding of both delivery and commercial drivers. Equally important is your standing in the market - your name, reputation and relationships should carry credibility with clients, consultants and peers alike.
From a leadership standpoint, this role requires balance. You must be capable of driving performance and holding people to account, but without ego or volatility. The environment will suit someone composed, measured and confident - a leader who brings clarity, sets expectations, and follows through.
As well as a compelling salary package, there is participation in a profit share structure from the outset. Beyond that, the company has a proven track record of offering equity to trusted, high-performing executives over time. This is not something that is promised upfront or handed out lightly, but for the right individual who genuinely moves the needle, there is a clear pathway to building a meaningful stake in the business.
