About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Early Childhood Strategy Division until end June 2027. The role requires leading high‐impact, foundational work to shape the department's relationship with the newly independent Victorian Early Childhood Regulatory Authority, driving governance settings that centre child safety and educational quality, accountability and effective public administration. Other key focuses include developing Victorian policy positions, contributing to strategic work on national and Victorian early childhood reforms, undertaking regulatory and other policy proposals, consulting with stakeholders, planning and managing projects, and informing implementation activity.
Responsibilities
* Lead work to shape the department's relationship with the Victorian Early Childhood Regulatory Authority, driving governance settings that centre child safety and educational quality, accountability, and effective public administration.
* Develop Victorian policy positions and contribute to strategic work on national and Victorian early childhood reforms, including regulatory and other policy proposals.
* Consult with stakeholders, plan and manage projects, and inform implementation activity.
Qualifications and Attributes
* Strong policy capability with demonstrated experience in planning and executing complex, multi‐faced policy projects.
* Strong critical thinking and problem‐solving skills, refined organisational awareness, and the ability to partner with diverse stakeholders.
* Adaptability under shifting priorities and timelines; collaborative and flexible with other teams within the division.
* Background in social or regulatory policy, legislative development, governance, or early childhood education and care policy specifically.
Preferred Qualifications
* Required to complete a police check and may be subject to other pre‐employment checks.
