**The Role**
Within the Base Support function an APS6 Assistant Base Manager is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex base support, planning and coordination work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.

An APS6 Assistant Base Manager may be a team coach or lead a team and be accountable to set work priorities and manage workflows. They are expected to be capable of building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work unit. They may exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes.

An APS6 Assistant Base Manager will have considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex issues. They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders' needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.

**About our Team**
Security and Estate Group, Service Delivery Division, Northern & Central Zone (NCZ) provides a wide variety of products and services to Defence in South Australia, the Northern Territory and Queensland.

The Team works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to assure prescribed product and services standards are met within agreed time frames as well as build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participate in teamwork and group activities. The Team also evaluates activities and processes for compliance with legislation, regulation or standards, design and recommend solutions to achieve desired outcomes.

The Team also assesses risks and provide guidance in relation to risk management strategies and develops, rehearses and maintains whole of base plans and instructions to achieve business objectives.

You are a polished professional with the ability to represent Defence in this critical role. Working closely with Senior Australian Defence Force Officers, Australian Defence Force Customers and Industry Partners, ensuring enabling services are delivered and Defence Bases maintained to support capability.

This position will suit you if you are:

- A strong communicator with the ability to think strategically, solve complex problems and build stakeholder relationships;
- Comfortable operating with the unknown, you seek assistance, and welcome feedback for your own development;
- Experienced in planning, and managing resources to achieve strategic outcomes; and
- Able to demonstrate a high level of self-awareness and emotional intelligence, to influence others.
