Remuneration
Annual salary commencing at $156,900 (TRP), which will be negotiated with the successful applicant based on skills and experience.

The Principal Project Engineer – Major Public Works leads the delivery of complex, high-value public works projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality and safety standards. The role provides technical leadership, project management expertise, and stakeholder engagement across all phases of major project delivery.
The Principal Project Engineer – Major Public Works will be a member of the leadership team within the Capital Delivery and Assets branch alongside other teams and functions of the Capital Delivery and Assets Branch.
Responsibilities
* Lead the planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of major public works projects (e.g., roads, bridges, water, sewerage, community infrastructure).
* Manage project teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure effective delivery of project objectives.
* Develop and monitor project budgets, schedules, and risk management plans.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, codes, and Council policies.
* Prepare and review project documentation, including business cases, tender documents, technical specifications, and reports.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including community groups, regulatory authorities, and service providers.
* Provide technical advice and mentorship to junior engineers and project staff.
* Undertake project scoping, feasibility studies, and value engineering assessments.
* Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and issues to the Manager Capital Delivery and Assets.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management frameworks and processes.
* Deputise for the Manager Capital Delivery and Assets as required.
Qualifications
* Degree level qualifications in civil engineering, or related discipline, acceptable for admission as a Member of the Institution of Engineers Australia.
* Registration or ability to obtain registration as an RPEQ (Registered Engineer of Queensland).
* Extensive experience in the delivery of major public works projects, including contract administration and stakeholder management.
* Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, interpretation and applications of professional engineering science, technology standards and practices.
* Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies and best practice.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
* Highly developed written and reporting skills.
* Queensland 'C' Class driver's licence that is current and maintained.
* Construction Industry White/Blue card.
