Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Supervising Technician - Workshops and Fabrication to join Faculty Operations, Faculty of Creative Industries, Education and Social Justice.

The Supervising Technician - Workshops and Fabrication manages an agile team of technical specialists to deliver activities within a large range of discipline specific facilities. The role is responsible for coordinating the provision of specialist technical support operations across the Faculty and for reviewing processes to support continuous improvement.

What You Need To Succeed
* Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to a Bachelor degree or a higher degree with at least four years' subsequent relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training involving creative production and workshop and studio management in a creative environment.
* Demonstrated high level communication skills (including interpersonal, presentation, influencing, written and verbal) and flexibility to work across projects and to collaborate and develop effective relationships with multiple programs and internal and external stakeholders at a variety of levels across the University.
* Demonstrated ability to nurture a collaborative team environment and provide positive contribution across a high performance leadership culture while leading a team culture that is committed to continuous improvement and continuously works to understand and meet stakeholder requirements.
* Proven leadership ability with experience in building customer focussed service culture whilst focused on achieving organisational goals and applying development strategies that ensure the team has the relevant skills to respond to client needs.
* Demonstrated technical problem identification and resolution skills, including ability to implement desired outcomes to timely completion in a complex environment with competing demands across one of more of the following creative disciplines: Fashion Design, Visual Arts, Industrial Design, Visual Communication, Interaction Design, Transdisciplinary Design, Digital fabrication, Drama, Dance and Technical Production, Film & Television, along with an ability to manage complex specialist technologies and configurations and develop a clear strategy to introduce efficiencies through the adoption of industry based best practices.
* Demonstrated skills in planning, prioritising, and appropriately delegating a portfolio of work, with the ability to ensure competing deadlines are met within a high-level interdependency environment.
