Role and Responsibilities
• Engage, coordinate and manage trades during the repair process
• Maintain detailed job records in the work management system
• Determine a works program and strive to achieve completion within the required time frame and within budget
• Achieve a high Quality of finish to the building works
• Communicate and negotiate with trades
• Communicate clearly and regularly with both internal and external stakeholders
• Coordinate access to properties with owners
• Resolve disputes as required
• Manage OH&S matters in keeping with legislative, contractual and company requirements
• Obtain all necessary final certificates from trades, engineers and certifiers as required
• Obtain final signoff documents from owners at completion
• Manage all work matters in the best interests of the company
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures as directed
Safety Responsibilities
Under the WHS legislation, workers have a duty to:
• Take reasonable care for his or her own health and safety;
• Take reasonable care that his or her acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of other persons;
• Comply, so far as reasonably able, with any reasonable instructions that is given by ABR;
• Cooperate with reasonable health and safety policies or procedures that have been notified by ABR.
Under ABR policies and in line with individual position descriptions, workers are required to:
• Undertake tasks in accordance with relevant WHS policies, procedures and/or work instructions
• Where required, participate in WHS training, programs and initiatives designed to improve WHS at ABR;
• Report all WHS hazards and incidents, including near misses, to ABR as per the Incident and Injury Management policy;
• Following consultation with other workers, officers, the ABR safety team and Safety Advisors, complete risk assessments to identify the hazards associated with the scope of work to be completed, the work environment and the interactions of trades on site;
• Implement the control measures identified in the risk assessment to eliminate or control the identified risks including by reference to the hierarchy of control measures and in accordance with any relevant Codes of Practice or recognised industry standard.
• Proactively raise WHS issues and/or seek guidance from ABR's safety team to ensure WHS hazards are identified, eliminated or otherwise controlled as far as reasonably practicable.
• Provide workers with the information, instructions, and supervision needed for them to work safely and without risks to their health.
• Monitor and enforce workplace health and safety compliance on their worksites in line with ABR policy and procedure and contractual requirements.
• Ensure compliance of the safe use, handling, storage and transport of plant, structure and substances associated with their projects.
• Action safety remedial actions that have been raised through internal site inspections.
• Complete and keep safe work method statements on site for high-risk work tasks.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
• Trade qualifications in Carpentry will be considered desirable but not essential.
Essential Skills
• Previous experience in a similar position/ trade background
• Supervisor's license and applicable licenses which must be current at all times
• Experience with W H & S and legislative requirements
• Management of sub-contractors
• Must be prepared to travel where necessary
• A current Drivers License
• Excellent 'people' skills
• Must be able to problem solve, be an analytical and strategic thinker and be a great communicator
• A professional appearance and good phone manner
• Competent PC skills including Excel, Word and Email
• Current drivers' license
• The ability to produce written reports when required
• A 'can do' energetic attitude and action-oriented approach
• Excellent organizational skills
• A strong work ethic and to be able think ahead
• A team focus and thrive in a team environment
Desirable Skills
• Working knowledge of the Insurance and construction industry
