About the Opportunity
The Construction Site Safety Inspector reports to the State Building Manager and is responsible for conducting initial inspections of client's land during the pre-construction phase, safety inspections during construction, and final quality inspections of completed homes.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
* Safely inspecting building sites to identify service locations and potential concerns with the installation of plumbing, electrical, and equipment for compliance with relevant codes
* Recording levels of the proposed building site and documenting inspection details in relevant business systems
* Reading and interpreting site plans, technical reports, surveys, elevation certificates, and other forms of property and project-related documents prior to requesting contour reports
* Preparing inspection reports and associated documentation in accordance with company policies and submitting inspection reports into 'ready for work' jobs
* Providing WHS expertise and regular advice to management and construction staff across Wilson Homes
* Overseeing WHS induction processes and resources for new employees and contractors
* Traveling to Building & Office in North and North-west regions of Tasmania and to Hobart for meetings with WHS Manager when required
* Inspecting homes at Defect Liability and Practical Completion appointments against the relevant Building Act, Codes, and associated Regulations
About You
You will share a passion for our purpose and be aligned to our core values; better together, be accountable, people matter, and think bigger. In addition, you will:
* A Building Trade Certificate or tertiary education in Construction Management
* Completion of Cert IV Building and Construction
* Experience within residential construction with knowledge of building construction principles and techniques, with preferred experience in residential structural, flood, and zoning plan reviews
* The ability to identify defects or problems proactively and take necessary actions to rectify or prevent problems in an efficient manner
* Strong attention to detail and time management
* Written and oral communication for effective expression and clarity
* Able to read and interpret site plans, technical reports, surveys, elevation certificates, and other forms of property and project-related documents
* Comfortable traveling in the North and Northwest regions
