About the Role:
In your role as a Senior Financial Accountant based in Townsville, you will play a key part in ensuring accurate and reliable financial results. Located in a vibrant coastal city with a relaxed lifestyle and year round sunshine, this role offers the chance to work closely with people across the business, supporting strong performance and informed decision making.
You will take ownership of overheads costs, review and analyse expenditure, budgets and forecasting, play an integral part in month-end processes, and gain hands-on experience across the full financial accounting function. You will also contribute to reporting, internal controls, taxation compliance, and improvements to financial systems. Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with stakeholders are essential.
You will champion People, Health, Safety and Environmental (SHE) responsibilities, build positive relationships across teams, and actively develop your skills while helping drive a supportive, high-performing culture.

Role Responsibilities:
* Ensure financial results are accurate and support month-end and management reporting
* Take ownership of overhead costs, budgets and forecasts and review expenditure to keep budgets on track
* Look for ways to improve financial systems and processes, including SAP
* Assist with audits, taxation compliance, and adherence to accounting standards
* Build strong relationships, support the team, and champion People, Health, Safety and Environmental (SHE) practices
About you:
We are looking for someone who brings:
Essentials
* Skilled in Excel, SAP, and Business Warehouse (BW), with experience creating reports
* Strong communicator who is confident engaging with others across all levels of the business
* Problem solver with the ability to think creatively and find solutions outside the box
* Comfortable using technology and systems to streamline processes and support decision-making
* Qualified with a financial or commercial degree, preferably with an accounting and finance major
* CPA, ACA, or CIMA qualified
* Extensive accounting experience, including 5 years providing accurate management information and ensuring data integrity
* Well-developed communication, influencing, and negotiation skills
Desirables
* Experience in the sugar industry
* Experience in large manufacturing environments with multiple sites and complex operations
* Demonstrated ability to improve processes and controls through the use of systems
