Why you'll love the role and what you’ll be doing: Are you passionate about trees, sustainability, and urban greening? Do you have the skills and expertise to maintain and protect the health and safety of our urban forest? We’re looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Arborist to join our team and play a key role in caring for and enhancing Banyule’s tree canopy. What You’ll Do Perform tree pruning, removals, planting, and general tree maintenance across Council’s parks and streetscapes. Safely operate and maintain tools, machinery, and vehicles to support high-quality arboriculture outcomes. Contribute to a positive team culture focused on urban tree health, community safety, and sustainable open space management. This is a great opportunity in Urban Forestry, working a 9-day fortnight, with ongoing training and study options, working with a team dedicated to best practice holistic and habitat focused arboriculture. What We Are Looking For (skills, Experience And Certificates) Trade qualification in Arboriculture or associated disciplines is desirable (in the absence of a trade qualification, a certificate of proficiency in arboriculture). Certificate II in ESI Training - Electrical Supply Industry and Powerline Clearance Requirements approved by Energy Safe Victoria. Demonstrate a high level of tree access skills via elevated work platform and climbing, including aerial rescue and tree rigging. Comprehensive knowledge of plant nomenclature and plant cultural requirements. Advanced chainsaw operation and basic operation of associated machinery, e.g., motorised auger, generators, watering tanks and root pruners. Effective written, verbal and conflict management skills with members of the public and other employees. Ability to work effectively in a team. Demonstrated commitment to our values.
