What You'll Be Doing
* The Primary Health Care Schools Based Nurse Program works closely with host schools, children, young adults, families, external organisations and social care providers.
* Promote healthy behaviours, enhance health literacy, prevent and reduce the risk and impact of poor health and disease in a manner which is responsive and respectful to individuals, their families, school communities and other agencies.
* Facilitate identification of health, wellbeing and social needs and the coordination of appropriate early intervention, assessments and referral to services for school‐aged children and young people attending designated primary and secondary schools within the FWLHD.

Qualifications and Experience
* Current Registered Nurse Division 1 National Registration (AHPRA) with a minimum of 3 years post‐registration clinical experience working with children and young people, a post‐registration qualification related to the specialty area of child and family health, paediatrics, adolescent/youth health nursing practice, Primary Health Care (child and family health) or a related area, or willingness to obtain qualifications within six months.
* Demonstrated understanding of and experience working with children and young people, including marginalised and at‐risk groups, and health promotion, prevention and early intervention approaches and evidence‐based practice.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of primary health care practice, specifically within a rural and remote Australian context.
* Demonstrated ability to work within an inter‐agency context, with an emphasis on relationship building, service delivery, quality of care and team cohesion, referrals and the ability to identify and improve opportunities to enhance integration of care for children, young people and families.
* Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including advanced verbal and written skills; the ability to negotiate and problem‐solve; and the capacity to collaborate with and influence health and other professionals.
* Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to utilise electronic communication and medical record systems across a variety of applications, including eHealth technologies.
* Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in the provision and development of clinical practice through utilisation of evidence‐based research with a demonstrated understanding of current NSW Ministry of Health policies and national and state standards in relation to children and young people.
* Current NSW State driver's licence (including P1 or above) and willingness to use it for work purposes.
