Responsibilities
1. Examine foodstuffs to ensure quality and freshness prior to preparation and cooking.
2. Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and business standards.
3. Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment to ensure proper cooking and food safety compliance.
4. Season food during cooking and ensure correct portioning, plating, and garnishing before service.
5. Store food in temperature-controlled facilities and monitor stock rotation to maintain freshness and minimise waste.
6. Conduct regular stocktakes, monitor stock levels, and place orders as required.
7. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation, including safe food handling and equipment maintenance.
8. Prepare meals to meet special dietary requirements where required.
9. Assist with menu planning and estimating food and ingredient requirements.
10. Train and supervise junior kitchen staff and apprentices in food preparation and hygiene practices.
11. Report equipment faults and maintenance requirements to management and ensure safe kitchen operations.
Qualifications
12. Preferably 1 year experience as a Cook
13. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multifaceted kitchen operations
14. Attention to detail; maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers and customers
15. A versatile and hard-working person with a practical hands-on approach, who strives to achieve the best outcomes at all times.
16. Excellent communication and organisational skills
17. Good knowledge of policies and procedures in workplace
