Laboratory Assistant Grade 3 - CSR
* 12 month fixed term, part time role
* 32 hours per fortnight (2 days per week)
* $27,600 FTE base + salary packaging + super + 5 weeks annual leave (pro‐rata)
About the role
Join a dynamic team in the Central Specimen Reception (CSR) department of the Pathology services. You will be pivotal in the receipt, triage and registration of biological samples, entering requests into the Laboratory Information System and performing pre‐analytical processing before distributing samples to the appropriate departments. Your interpersonal skills will help liaise with scientific and medical staff inside and outside the hospital, as well as assisting patients and their families with queries.
Applicants should have at least 12 months of experience within a CSR department. The successful applicant may also be required to work weekends or public holidays.

Position Summary
The laboratory assistant's tasks include but are not limited to:
* Processing specimens for analysis
* Dispatching samples to external departments and laboratories
* Registering episodes into Pathology LIS
* Performing general laboratory duties as required
* Communicating with medical, nursing and allied health staff
* Loading/unloading samples on laboratory instruments
* Calibrating pipettes and other laboratory instruments
* Filing/sorting documentation and samples
* Troubleshooting and following up on sample issues, request slips and rebleeds
* Maintaining equipment
* Other miscellaneous lab duties as directed
