**Your new role**
Based in either Canberra or Melbourne, this role will be responsible for the commercial management of subcontracts across a major and high profile Defence project. It will involve leading new and existing subcontract agreements with key suppliers as well as modifications / change proposals as required. Responsibilities will include:
- Managing existing subcontracts and leading subcontract negotiations, including ensuring the flow down of appropriate and proportionate terms from the Prime Contract;
- Managing supplier arrangements of various types and complexity;
- Identifying and resolving moderate to complex commercial matters on assigned subcontracts, and escalating where required;
- Raising changes to subcontracts, based on agreed changes to the Prime contract;
- Leading subcontract governance meetings with suppliers and ensuring records are kept/accurate;
- Managing all supplier correspondence, information management and compliance to company and customer policies.
**Qualifications**:
**About you**
You are a Commercial Manager with experience in a defence or federal government domain. You bring:
- A Bachelor's degree in commerce, law, business or related discipline;
- 3+ years prior relevant experience in managing subcontract or 'buy-side' arrangements;
- Experience negotiating terms and conditions with suppliers;
- Successful track record of developing, mobilising and managing a variety of subcontract types and complexity in a multi-disciplinary environment;
- Strong organisational, written and oral communication skills;
- Must be able to work independently, multi-task, establish priorities, and meet deadlines with mínimal supervision;
- Familiarity with Australian Federal Government contracting methodologies;
- Prior experience in Defence and/or Health Industries is highly desirable.
