ABOUT THE ROLE
* Full time until 30 June 2026
* Band 6: $92,535 per annum + 12% superannuation
* Flexible working arrangements available

Working with the Senior Emergency Management Officer, you will collaborate with internal departments and external partners to raise awareness and strengthen community resilience and recovery.

As part of a supportive team, its focus is working in partnership with our diverse communities to encourage and support participation in community planning and emergency preparedness.

This role will:

* Support resilience and recovery community activities associated with the February 2024 Storm Event including communication and engagement activities, and recovery projects.
* Provide information within Council on development and implementation of all community plans and monitor community plans as a way to increase community resilience.
* Support the coordination of the Community Grants Program, in particular recovery/resilience applications.
* Facilitate networks of communities, agencies and organisations to meet regularly to consider collaborative projects and information sharing.
* Develop and facilitate skills development opportunities for the community including resilience and recovery activities and workshops.
* Provide a communication link between the community and relevant officers to ensure proposed recovery and resilience community projects.
* Support the development and roll out of Council staff training to build organisational resilience to future emergency events.
ABOUT YOU

Your enthusiasm for connecting with various sectors of the community shines through, making you a natural collaborator. With a knack for working with people, you will have well developed verbal and written communication skills, an excellent customer service approach, and manage your time well.

To be successful in this role, you will also have:

* Significant experience in a community development or community capacity building, community recovery or emergency management role or similar.
* Ability to work cooperatively with numerous stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
* A good understanding of the role of government in supporting community activity.
* Significant experience in leading and supporting volunteers or voluntary groups.
* Project management experience.
