Job Title: Support Services Coordinator
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to join our team as a Support Services Coordinator. As a key member of our staff, you will play a crucial role in supporting children and families successfully transition into school.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Assist the school to support children and families through the transition process from early childhood services.
* Facilitate access to learning or engagement supports to help establish positive patterns of school attendance, behaviour and engagement in learning.
* Link families to external government and non-government supports and services to reduce barriers to learning for students.
Working with Us
You will work closely with classroom teachers, teacher aides and specialist support staff to understand the child's needs and connect families with services such as health, therapeutic and developmental interventions to support engagement with learning.
You will also build and sustain positive relationships and effective partnerships with children, families and carers, school staff, government agencies and community services, and facilitate family-led decision-making processes to ensure optimum outcomes for children and their families.
What We Are Looking For
* Experience working in a culturally responsive manner with culturally diverse families and students and/or a willingness to work and train in culturally appropriate approaches.
* Knowledge of the region's demographic and local service providers and agency supports would be highly regarded.
* Knowledge of, or capacity to develop knowledge of the early childhood sector and transition processes would be considered beneficial for effectively supporting vulnerable families and children within this sector.
