Job Description
Safer Lives Mobile Service (SLMS) is a specialist funded 24/7 outreach service for women and children experiencing domestic and family violence. Referrals come from DV Connect, Queensland Police Service, and Queensland Health Social Workers within the Brisbane Region.
The Safer Lives Mobile Team works in partnership with Brisbane Domestic Violence Service and Micah Projects Housing and Homelessness Teams. Micah Projects is committed to recognizing diverse relationships, family structures, and unique circumstances of each person's experience in the context of culture, socio-economic status, health and disability status, and sexual orientation.
We are looking for a committed Specialist Domestic Violence Support Advocate to join our team. In this role, you will provide outreach, crisis response, and safety planning to support women, children, and other victims of domestic and family violence. Working with referrals, you will help individuals access safety, stability, and ongoing support.
This is a permanent part-time (0.8FTE) employment opportunity at Level 3 of the SCHADS award.
Shifts: Monday - Sunday
* 4:00pm - 12am
* 11:30pm - 7:30am
Saturday, Sunday & Public holidays:
* 7am - 3pm
* 8:30am - 4:30pm
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
* Support victims of domestic and family violence using a trauma informed approach to access appropriate pathways to safety.
* Provide outreach support and safety planning to women and children in motels who have left a domestic violence relationship.
* Respond to QPS and Qld Health (24/7) to assist women access emergency/crisis motel immediately.
* Provide emotional support, safety planning, flexible financial assistance, and individual advocacy in navigating service systems for the duration of the support period with women and children or other identified victims of domestic and family violence.
* Have a minimum of 12 months experience within a community services position working with vulnerable people.
* Be able to work in a crisis environment and respond to multiple demands with a problem-solving approach.
* Be able to work rotating shifts between 4pm – 12am and 11:30pm – 7:30am Monday – Sunday, and 7am – 3pm and 8:30am – 4:30pm Saturday, Sunday & public holidays.
* Have knowledge of or ability to acquire relevant knowledge of legislation and regulations, such as The Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 and The Child Protection Act 1999.
* Demonstrate experience in working with people in a human service setting.
* Demonstrate knowledge and experience in collaborative teamwork, service navigation, and local community support.
* Have knowledge of or ability to learn cross-disciplinary responses to domestic and family violence housing and homelessness.
